Becoming
an Egg Donor

What to Expect at Each Step

Egg donation is a generous act that gives intended parents the chance to build their families. At Global Fertility & Genetics, we guide you through every stage of the process with care, safety, and transparency. Here’s what you can expect as an egg donor—from your first inquiry to donation day and beyond.

Egg Donation

Understanding Egg Donation

Is Being an Egg Donor Right for You?

Becoming an Egg Donor is a generous and life-changing decision. As an egg donor, you have the unique opportunity to help individuals and couples achieve their dream of starting a family.

We’re here to guide you through every step of the process with care, professionalism, and support. Our program ensures your safety and well-being, and we work closely with you to make the experience as smooth and rewarding as possible.

Whether you’re just curious or ready to begin, we invite you to learn more about the qualifications, process, and benefits of egg donation. Your decision could change someone’s life—forever.

You may be a good candidate if you’re:

  • Are between 21 and 30 years old
  • Are in good physical and mental health
  • Do not smoke or use drugs
  • Have a flexible schedule for a few weeks

Application & Screening Process

After submitting your application, our team will guide you through a comprehensive screening process to ensure you’re healthy, fully prepared, and that donation will be safe for you.

The screening includes:

  • Medical evaluation – blood work, hormone testing, and a pelvic ultrasound
  • Genetic testing – to identify any inheritable conditions
  • Psychological assessment – to support your emotional well-being
  • Lifestyle and health questionnaire – to help us understand your overall health

You’ll also have the opportunity to meet with a fertility specialist to ask questions and discuss what to expect throughout the process.

Why Donate with Global Fertility?

Global Fertility & Genetics offers:

  • A compassionate and experienced medical and support team
  • Clear, honest communication at every step
  • A confidential and ethical donation process
  • Full medical care and emotional support
  • Flexible scheduling with attentive follow-up
  • Compensation of up to $10,000 per cycle

Legal & Ethical Considerations

Before moving forward, you’ll sign egg donor consents that outlines:

  • Your rights and responsibilities
  • Whether your donation is anonymous or open
  • That you will not have parental rights or responsibilities for any child born from your donation
  • Compensation details

Hormonal Preparation & Monitoring

The process includes:

  • Daily hormone injections for about 10–14 days (we’ll teach you how to administer them safely at home)
  • Monitoring visits every few days, including bloodwork and ultrasounds, to track your body’s response
  • A final “trigger shot” to prepare your body for egg retrieval

Egg Retrieval Procedure

This is a minor outpatient procedure performed under light sedation at our clinic.

  • The procedure takes about 20–30 minutes
  • Eggs are gently retrieved using a thin, ultrasound-guided needle
  • You’ll rest for a short time afterwards and go home the same day
  • Most donors feel back to normal within 24–48 hours. We recommend taking the day off work or school and avoiding strenuous activities for a few days

Recovery & Support

  • We’ll stay in close touch with you to monitor your recovery
  • Mild bloating or cramping is common; serious side effects are rare but monitored carefully
  • You’ll have access to our team 24/7 if you have questions or concerns

Compensation & Recognition

We value your time, effort, and generosity. Egg donation is not a job, but we do provide financial compensation for your time and commitment, in line with ethical guidelines. You’ll receive:

  • A set amount of compensation, discussed upfront
  • Coverage for medical expenses, screenings, and legal consultations
  • You’ll have access to our team 24/7 if you have questions or concerns

Your Future Fertility

Donating your eggs does not reduce your long-term fertility. You’ll still have plenty of eggs left for future family-building if and when you choose. Many donors go on to have children of their own.
